Green Dot Violence Prevention Day-April 1st, 2016 at 3:45p.m.
Friday, April 1st, 2016 will be proclaimed Green Dot Violence Prevention Day in our community to kick off April as Child Abuse Awareness Month by Mayor Royalty and County Judge Executive, Dean Watts.
Please show support for this violence prevention initiative by joining us on the Visitors Center lawn (1 Court Square) at 3:45 p.m. for the reading of the Proclamation and wearing GREEN to spread awareness.
A GREEN DOT is anyway that we use our choices, words, or actions to prevent violence.
Nelson Co Library will be hosting a book club for middle and high school students on March 10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st from 4:30-5:30pm.
The book is Thirteen Reason Why, a book that will speak to so many of us who knew Reagan, help us understand maybe what she endured, and how we can reach out to others to keep others from that fate. The author, Jay Asher, will also be present on 4/20 @ 6:30 for a discussion. I think this will be an important opportunity to openly discuss the issue of bullying and understand what a devastating effect it has on someone.
